Can Home Assist Secure Pay for Your Gutter Cleaning?
The short answer
Yes, if you qualify. The Queensland Government's Home Assist Secure program lists cleaning gutters as one of the jobs it can subsidise. It covers labour only: at most $200 for any one job, and $500 across a year. You need to be 60 or older or have a disability, and hold a Pensioner Concession Card.

Does Home Assist Secure Cover Gutter Cleaning?
It does. The government's page lists yard and outside maintenance (opens in a new tab) among the jobs it helps pay for, “for example, pruning branches or cleaning gutters.” The money goes toward labour, and your local provider checks the job at a home visit before any work starts.
We're not a Home Assist Secure provider. If you don't qualify, or you'd rather book privately, our gutter cleaning service is there for that. It's a private job, quoted on its own.
We read the program page on 29 October 2026. The government last updated it on 9 June 2026. Rules like these change, so check the page again before you apply.
02 / Checklist
Who Qualifies for Home Assist Secure?
- 01You're 60 or older, or any age with a disabilityThat's the first test on the Queensland Government's list. The program is open to homeowners and to renters.
- 02You hold a Pensioner Concession CardServices Australia says it will “automatically send you a Pensioner Concession Card if you get certain payments from us.” You don't apply for the card itself.
- 03You can't do the job yourselfThe page's words are “unable to complete the work yourself due to a lack of skills, or health and safety risks.” If the ladder doesn't feel safe for you anymore, say so.
- 04You aren't eligible for another government programIf you qualify for a program such as the Commonwealth Home Support Program, Home Assist Secure usually won't take you on. The page says that applies “unless exceptional circumstances apply.”

How Much Will Home Assist Secure Pay Toward a Gutter Clean?
| The rule | What it means for your gutters |
|---|---|
| Up to $200 per job | The subsidy pays up to $200 of the labour on one gutter clean. |
| Up to $500 per year | That's the most it pays across every job you book in a year. |
| Labour only | Materials aren't part of the subsidy. |
| Jobs of $1,500 or less | The whole job, labour and materials together, has to come in at $1,500 or under. |
| You pay the rest | If the labour costs more than the subsidy, you cover the difference. |
| Use it or lose it | Unused subsidy expires each year. It doesn't carry over. |

How Do I Get Home Assist Secure to Clean My Gutters?
- 01Check you're eligibleRun through the checklist above. If you tick every line, it's worth calling your provider.

- 03Have the home visitYour provider comes out to look at what needs doing. They'll also tell you which jobs qualify for the subsidy, so ask about the gutters while they're there.
- 04Get the work doneThe provider does the job as soon as it can, with its own staff or a local tradesperson.
- 05Book again when you need toYou can book another job with the same provider. The $500 a year limit still applies.

Can I Choose My Own Gutter Cleaner?
The page doesn't give a way to pick your own. It says your provider does the work with its own staff or a local tradesperson. If you've got someone in mind, ask your provider at the home visit.
The program helps in one more way. If you're 60 or older or have a disability, the program also gives free advice and “referrals to reputable tradespeople and community services who may be able to carry out the work you require.” That's open to you even if you don't qualify for the money.
If you'd rather pick the crew yourself, book a clean with us as a private job. We quote every clean on its own, and you'll have the price before we start. Tell us how many storeys your home has, so we turn up ready for the height.

What If I Don't Qualify for Home Assist Secure?
Look at the federal aged care programs next. If you're 65 or older, the Commonwealth Home Support Program (opens in a new tab) may help with jobs around the house. You apply through My Aged Care, and an aged care assessment comes first. Call them on 1800 200 422.
Their home maintenance service (opens in a new tab) lists gardening and help with home maintenance and repairs. It doesn't name gutters, so ask your assessor. It also leaves out “professional gardening services, such as tree lopping”, and jobs that are someone else's to do, like a landlord's.
There's also Support at Home, which My Aged Care says is “designed for those with more complex and intensive care needs.” On the Commonwealth Home Support Program, you're expected to chip in if you can afford it, and each provider sets its own prices.
If none of it fits, we clean gutters across Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast. We're family-owned for over 25 years, fully insured, and the quote is free.

Is It Time to Hand Over the Ladder?
If the climb worries you, that worry counts. Home Assist Secure itself treats “health and safety risks” as a reason you can't do the work yourself. Its free advice for people 60 and over covers home safety, “including falls prevention”.
Our guide on whether gutter cleaning is dangerous goes through the hospital research on ladder falls in Queensland. It's worth a read before your next go at the gutters.

Can I get Home Assist Secure outside Queensland?
Home Assist Secure is a Queensland Government program, so its rules are written for Queensland homes. If you live in another state, check with your own state government. For aged care help at home, My Aged Care is on 1800 200 422, Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm and Saturday 10am to 2pm.
Will Home Assist Secure pay for gutter guard?
The program page doesn't mention gutter guard. It does say it won't cover work that isn't needed for health, safety or security, and it only covers jobs of $1,500 or less, labour and materials together. Your provider confirms which work qualifies at the home visit, so ask them.
Can renters use Home Assist Secure for gutters?
Renters can apply. The catch is that the program won't pay for work that the property owner has to do by law. So check with your landlord or property manager first. Our guide to who cleans the gutters on a Queensland rental covers what the RTA says.
