Premium Woven Aluminium EmberGuard is the finest woven aluminium gutter mesh we install. It's a gutter and valley guard with 2 mm holes, tight enough to shut out fine debris and pests too.
If your place backs onto bushland, or you're getting ready for fire season, this is the mesh we'll usually point you to. It does the everyday work as well: leaves stay out, rain drains through, and birds and pests are kept off the roofline.
The mesh is 1 mm thick aluminium with our proprietary coating. It sits under our 25-year full system guarantee, which covers the mesh, clips, trims and screws, and the coating has its own 10-year guarantee against fading. We fit it under a 20-year workmanship guarantee, with our written 10-year no blocked gutter guarantee on top.

Made for Bushfire-Prone Areas
Plenty of homes around Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast sit close to bush, and gutters full of dry leaves are exactly what you don't want there. EmberGuard works on that fuel load: the fine 2 mm weave keeps dry litter out of the gutter, so there's less for a stray ember to catch on.

Bushfire-Prone Areas and the Australian Standard
AS 3959:2018 is the standard that governs building in bushfire-prone areas. For gutter and valley guards it asks one thing: if you fit them, they must be non-combustible. Our aluminium mesh is non-combustible, so it meets that requirement at every Bushfire Attack Level, right through BAL-40 and Flame Zone.
Worth knowing, because a lot of people get told otherwise: ember guards for roof vents, eave gaps and fascia gaps are a separate requirement. From BAL-40 up, the standard calls for steel or bronze there, not aluminium. If your place is rated BAL-40 or Flame Zone, ask us and we'll tell you straight what our mesh does and doesn't cover.

The 2 mm weave, the tightest in our range, does gutter guard and bird proofing in one. Where expanded mesh keeps birds out of the gutter, EmberGuard closes things up tighter again, which helps when small pests have been finding their way into the roofline.

Is EmberGuard fire rated?
Here's what we can say: it's woven aluminium with 2 mm holes, and aluminium is non-combustible. That's what AS 3959 asks of gutter guard at every Bushfire Attack Level. Ember guards for vents and eave gaps come under a separate rule. If your project needs specific paperwork for council or a certifier, ask at the quote and we'll go through it for your situation.
What makes woven mesh different from expanded mesh?
Woven mesh is made from interlaced aluminium strands, which gives a tighter, more even 2 mm hole. Expanded mesh is cut and stretched from sheet, with a larger 3 mm hole size. Both handle gutter guard and bird proofing. EmberGuard's tighter hole keeps out finer debris too.
Do I need EmberGuard if I'm nowhere near bushland?
Probably not, and we'll say so. Expanded 3 mm mesh covers most homes. EmberGuard earns its place near bush or where very fine debris keeps beating coarser mesh.
Does the finer weave stop water getting through?
The weave is designed to drain rain into the gutter while screening out fine debris, and the system is backed by a written 10-year no-blockage guarantee.
How long is EmberGuard guaranteed?
The same as the rest of our range. A 25-year full system guarantee on every component, 20 years on the workmanship, 10 years against blocked gutters and 10 years on the coating against fading.
